Hey I'm bananakin, a digital artist based in Florida, specializing in animation and 3D design. My creative journey began in 2004, sketching caricatures for theme park visitors, which soon evolved into a passion for motion graphics. Over the years, I have contributed to various projects, including theme park attractions, live events, and music videos. My creations blend 2D, 3D, and VR techniques. Since January 1, 2020, I have committed to producing daily artworks, each one consistently posted online before midnight each day.
About the Work
A lot of my work starts in VR using a program called Quill. Using VR to model, sculpt, and animate 3D assets has been a really fun workflow for me. Also doing everydays has really allowed me to explore different ways to create... Integrating my own photography, 3D scans, and sketches/illustrations into these pieces to give them a personal touch.
About This Piece
With RECESS ANYTIME I had one goal... to make something fun! Thinking back to the elementary days where the best time was spent on the playground, I wanted to take a trip back and get all of the playtime feels… but with a funky twist. I leaned into my workflow of creating and animating all of my 3D assets in VR using Quill, then bringing those into C4D for finishing touches and then rendering it all with Octane.
Future
Web3 and NFTs transformed how I create and share my work, allowing me to establish ownership, connect directly with collectors, and push the boundaries of what I can do with my digital art. Looking ahead, I'm very excited to explore new ways to tell stories using the blockchain and NFTs. I've recently got into more world building and creating metaverse ready assets, so you can expect me to explore this side of my work more in the near future.
