Bio
Hello! My name is Justin Totemical. I've been working as an independent computer artist for 15 years. I utilize a wide gamut of software and hardware in the creation of my work. Experimenting with evolving technology is at the heart of my creative processes. I have always felt overpowered by some creative force, a pulling of the soul into visualizing the dimensions that possess my waking dreams. Artwork for me is a chance to explore these dreams by conjuring the realms between imagination and reality. My work is a representation of that exploration and aims to be a visual apotheosis of source.
About the Work
I utilize a variety of software to combine both 3D elements and 2D painting to create a hybrid approach within the digital space. My softwares include; Fusion 360, Photoshop, Illustrator, Blender, C4D & Zbrush.
About This Piece
For my CryptoCubes piece "Databreach#27" I wanted to create a female character that was simulated within a VR-esq environment. Within the full resolution image I've included an overlay for the CryptoCubes contract along with other crypto-native information such as some info on self-custody and wallet safety (near the top left of the piece). The piece has elements sculpted within Zbrush, Composition was arranged and rendered in C4D with Octane.
Future
For decades Digital Art had little value outside of the print medium. NFTs and the blockchain have given a place for our work to be digitally signed, traded and collected natively with recorded provenance. Outside of patronage or monetary benefits this technology can help etch digital art and artists into the cultural history of our time. That alone is a beautiful thing.
