Beyond the Limitation of Words
Bio
Alan Bolton is a multidisciplinary digital artist from Ireland. Alan graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business & Management from the Dublin Institute of Technology in 2017 where he majored in digital marketing. Shortly after college Alan moved to Los Angeles, California, and spent 14 months working as the lead content creator for the popular YouTube channel MihranTV. Within this role, he gained a vast amount of experience creating social media content across various platforms. After returning home to Ireland in January 2019, Alan started working as a freelance artist focusing on producing social media content through various mediums such as videography, photography, graphic design to 3D art for brands and music artists. Alan has built a strong portfolio of worldwide clients from brands such as JUST Water and Sour Strips to top DJs and musicians such as Tiësto, Deadmau5, and Example. Throughout 2020, he took a step back from client work to focus his attention on his artistic career and began selling his digital artworks on top marketplaces such as MakersPlace, SuperRare, and Nifty Gateway. Alan has worked on a number of collaborative art projects including music/art collaborations with record label Hau5trap, one of the world's top DJs and producers Deadmau5, and a one-of-a-kind art collaboration with Manchester City Football Club. Alan has made an impact on the art community with his surreal and abstract 3D art. His work has been exhibited in galleries in Los Angeles, Canada, the UK, and the Beijing Contemporary Art Show 2023.
About the Work
Years of experimentation with a variety of mediums from graphic design, photography, videography, and even a short period of DJing and music production led me to my love of 3D art and animation. I work with the 3D software Blender and the full Adobe suite to finalise my art.
About This Piece
My artwork features CryptoCube #255 and is titled “Beyond the Limitation of Words”. I chose that cube for my artwork as I loved the colours and structure of the cube. I had this visual in my mind of a glitchy cube animation and felt cube #255 was perfect. My piece takes the colorway from the original CryptoCube #255 throughout the artwork and is built in a surreal setting featuring an abstract art installation. I spent time living in Barcelona in 2022 and visited many art museums. This inspired a lot of my art to build out abstract art installations. That’s what I love about 3D the way I can create these crazy installations in any way I want.
Future
I’ve been full-time in NFTs/Web3 since 2020. The moment I discovered NFTs I went all in. I remember when I was a teenager I used to create social media graphics for all my friends on the site “Bebo” but there was never a way to prove digital ownership of the art or who created it. I couldn’t believe it when I figured out NFTs now solved this problem and my mind was racing about all the possibilities of this new technology. I believe we’re still in the very early stages of NFTs as crypto becomes more mainstream throughout the world and people start to understand the amazing benefits of transacting on-chain.
