Bio
Maalavidaa is Alycia Rainaud, a French graphic designer and digital artist based in Montreal, Canada. Alycia's highly saturated abstract aesthetic finds its inspiration in Jungian therapy, colour therapy, and meditation. Her work explores the complexity of emotions through creative introspection as a path to increase emotional intelligence and mental health sensitivity. She created Maalavidaa in 2016 as both a persona and an artistic mindset and has been working ever since as an independent creative director while focusing on putting mental health and wellness at the forefront of her practice, further defining herself as a designer of emotions.
About the Work
Maalavidaa’s art process sources its components in both the physical and digital realm. The artist often explains how she appreciates the back-and-forth relationship between her technique of predilection, including acrylic painting, photography/videography, software colour manipulation (Photoshop) and finally software animation (TouchDesigner / After Effects).
About This Piece
« Seal of Ataraxia » was created by Maalavidaa in 2022 and features CryptoCube #218 as its centerpiece, turning it into an artifact of protection and solace. Alycia created this piece by recording moving paint in a dish with her camera, then coloured and looped the video through software. Finally, she animated the CryptoCube artifact and placed it into the seal graphics, moving in an endless circle and releasing an endless flow of colours.
Future
Maalavidaa’s has been known for her involvement in mental health in the Web3 space as well as her constant effort to highlight the importance of a more open and positively vulnerable community. With this aim in mind, she created Heal The Deal back in 2021 as the first emotional support club in Web3 and NFTs. This helped her position herself even further in the Digital Art world as a pioneer and an advocate for better self-awareness through the power of art and emotions. Thanks to this opportunity and journey, she is now pursuing bigger and bolder projects, the next one being the release of her first online masterclass about Colour Consciousness.
