Bio
Miguelgarest is a 3D animator and illustrator working professionally for the last 10 years. He creates animated loops and gives life to new characters. His work feeds on kawaii aesthetics, surrealism, pop art and vintage video games.
About the Work
I work almost exclusively in 3D software for final versions of most of my pieces which I always create from scratch via modeling/sculpting and manual key frames for the animations. I also sometimes combine 2D assets, digital or analog drawings as well as sounds and other media sources.
About This Piece
I see the CryptoCubes as these digital sculptures floating in space and I wanted to combine that feature with my style and playful motion so I decided to start the animation with a transition from a digital and sharper look to a softer and colorful one. I tried to give them some personality, even adding a face to the main Cube in the center, and finally make the float away as balloons filled with gas thanks to the physics and dynamics in the 3D software.
Future
NFTs provided a consolidation of my path as an artist, transitioning from the need of client work and "art posting" on social media to allowing me to focus and dedicate my time to personal work, which thanks to collectors I was able to monetize, giving me the freedom to continue on this loop where I create the work I want (and when I want) and at the same time afford to live comfortably as an artist. All thanks to the blockchain and the people that continue to push forward this technology.
