Inner Balance
Bio
Billelis is a Digital Artist creatively addicted to dark imagery and adorned artistry. Currently based in the city of Edinburgh, he spends countless hours experimenting, learning and expanding his artistic skill set to create a personal style that can be best described as a dark, yet elegant, romantic fusion. He has a keen eye for intricate detail, with a timeless palette, and his work has often been described as hyper-real. An evolving love affair between the visual balance of life and death, Billelis portrays his own fears and beliefs through the medium of decorated digital sculpture. Equipped with an overactive imagination, a love of the macabre and a perpetual artistic hunger, Billelis aims to be a distinct source of creativity and inspiration in the art community while questioning notions of life, death, religion and fear.
About the Work
I’m a digital 3D artist primarily focusing on sculpture and illustration, heavily inspired by elements of history, religion, decorative motifs and death. Techniques wise I primarily work in Zbrush and Cinema 4D, I don’t have much structure. I fuck around until I find out what seems visually pleasing to me. Sometimes there is a defined story I am trying to visualise but many times it’s pure exploration.
About This Piece
I was honoured to get invited by Han to collaborate on the release. I loved the generative aspect of CryptoCubes and wanted to create a piece inspired by the process. Almost a geometric mathematical visual algorithm immortalised in time. Almost like a long lost sculpture found explaining elements of an algorithm.
Future
I am extremely grateful for NFTs as they provided artists with a medium appropriate space to release our art. I went all in on NFTs and created some of the best work of my career. I created so much during those 2-3 years that I felt depleted at the end, idea wise, and had to take a break to feel re inspired again. Not sure what the future brings but it would be great to move past the notions of pfp and creating art for the speculative crypto nature that exists in many people’s minds. I feel the space has come a very long way and even if the market is in a slow phase I would like to believe art will prevail. There is no other space where digital art can natively flourish. And art being treated as content on social media is gonna get us nowhere…But with every new technology time is needed for things to equalise and get realigned.
