Bio

James Fox is a macro photographer who invites viewers into small, beautiful places with vivid and emotional abstract photography. James specializes in using flowing pigments to create intricate and atmospheric pieces that the viewer may immerse themselves in and reflect on the art and beauty of small things. Since a very young age, James has always endeavored to create great art. Having received education in photography, illustration, graphic design and 3D animation, James uses many of these disciplines to create and or inform his photography.

About the Work

James photographs incredibly small objects and sculptures, immersed in flowing pigments with a macro lens. This achieves an aesthetic that draws the viewer into a world that is so small, yet is filled with incredible detail.

The works are most often created using very small sculptures, 3D prints, and flowing pigments. Depending on the piece, James may add graphical flourishes to finalize the art.

About This Piece

For CryptoCube #153, I wanted to envision the cube as a microscopic object. I 3D printed the cube four times at a very small scale with each 3D print showing a different side of the cube. I immersed the printed cubes in pigments and photographed them with a macro lens. This part of the process took many days of trial and error to get photos that I was satisfied with. To tie the shots together, I tried to composite them in a way that added emphasis to each side, while also creating a simple loop that allowed one shot to flow into the next. I loved working on this piece.

Future

NFTs exposed me to a whole new world of artists that were and some still are, creating amazing works. While I was able to sell some pieces and earn some income as an artist in a way that I previously didn't think would be possible for me, it was really the artists, collectors and collaborations that NFTs exposed me to that ended up being something so valuable to me. I hope to collaborate with more artists, form new friendships, and continue to bring meaningful pieces of art to life.
