Clod 015 by Fabiano Speziari
Clod 015
Bio
Fabiano Speziari is a designer and artist and experiments with different materials and techniques with a guiding philosophy: to investigate the human soul, the relationship with nature and the environment around him.
Initially he created trees and natural forms, made on canvas, or small and strange animals in resin. He then devoted himself to land art and installations in nature for a few years, moving on to using light and defined geometric shapes. He created the “Message in a pencil” series, large light pencils that convey messages. At the same time he developed the idea of agglomerates, housing modules that represent the home and human life relegated to an urban and massified environment.
Since 2018 he has been interested in the world of cryptoart and began to experiment with digital art. To date he works in this world with a project called Clods. A series of small clods, the only remaining parts of the destroyed planet, on which the survivors try to rebuild an existence.
About the Work
Over the years I have used different kinds of mediums and artistic techniques. First I worked only in physical art, experimenting with painting, mostly with acrylic paints, resin sculptures and electronic parts. Then for a few years I worked on installations in nature using almost exclusively natural materials found on site or hay and straw. I started working in digital art, from first with vector art and then with pixelart and voxelart, getting into gaming. I now use almost exclusively software such as Photoshop, After Effects, Magicavoxel, Voxedit and Blender.
About This Piece
Creating Clod 015 I really enjoyed it. The work of the CryptoCubes fit very well with my Mental Agglomerates, groups of blocks, living modules floating in a mostly undefined space. I started from the 3D of the CryptoCubes to redraw it in an isometric view on Photoshop via pixelart. I drew all the parts digitally thus creating a middle ground between a Clod and a digital Agglomerate. I then added the various parts to be animated. The animations are drawn in step one and animated in After Effects, in which I then add the various audio elements as well.
Future
NFTs and Web3 have been life-changing for me. They allowed me to finally be able to work full time as an artist. I think this is one of the biggest revolutions for artists in many years. Right now I don't really know what the future of this world holds for artists. Anything can happen. Certainly, as we all continue to work together, we can build a good environment and many opportunities for a lot of artists to work creatively, anywhere in the world.
